Welcome to my new blog….a place where I hope we all can share ideas and inspiration with one another. The intention of this forum is to talk about topics in education technology, instructional design, the education market and leadership. And of course whatever else pops up along the way!
The photo at the top of this page is one that I took in London a few years ago. The banner ad on the bus pretty much says it all, doesn’t it? I think most of us can agree that what we’re doing now in education isn’t working well, when we look at failure and dropout rates in our country and the PISA scores comparing us to our global friends. So I propose that we disrupt learning…let’s shake things up and figure out how to best effect learning…that is, how to get students’ performance to change in observable, measurable and meaningful ways.
I know that measuring student performance is a bone of some contention, particularly when discussing standardized testing. And we can talk all about that over the course of time. But there is no question that we somehow need to come to agreement on how to validate that instruction works. And we won’t be able to do that without recording students’ performance.
So again, welcome! I’m looking forward to us getting to know one another! Also, I’m new to blogging, so all tips and suggestions are very welcome!
