I haven’t been nearly as good as I should have been lately with blogging. But I have a good excuse. Honest.
Most of you have seen my other posts where I do product reviews and give feedback about what I like and don’t like, mostly from an instructional design and usability design perspective. And I think I’ve told you about how frustrated I am by the educational app review sites out there that focus pretty much on whether kids like the apps or think they’re fun, not on the real instructional value of them. And finally, that those other sites don’t use a standardized approach to their reviews.
Well, after a lot of soul-searching, I’ve decided to launch my own business doing the thing that I’ve been complaining about the lack of for such a long time. (Really, isn’t everyone tired of hearing me whine??) And I’m fortunate to have a group of close friends, family members and colleagues who are ready to join me on this adventure!
But the REALLY big news today is that we have been accepted into the Merrimack Valley Sandbox Accelerator program! We are one of 13 entrepreneurial teams accepted into this 12-week program. We are amazed by the program so far…an incredible collection of more than 60 mentors ready to help little old us! And though we are already a pretty senior team of people, we know that we can learn something from each and everyone one of them!
As we go forward on this wild adventure, I’d like to ask all of you to ride along with us. If you are a parent or educator of kids who use tablet devices and apps and you are willing to be a beta tester for us, please let us know! If you are available for me to interview you about how you currently approach the problem of finding high quality, effective instructional apps for your kids, please fill in the form below!
And for now, I’d like to ask you all to respond here on these questions: How do you currently find apps for your kids? What do you like about the process you currently use, and what frustrates you?
We have the expertise to do this, but ultimately it’s all about you and your kids! Hope you all will jump on board! The more, the merrier! And thanks!
Karen, this is exciting! Looking forward to hearing more about it soon!
